I Hate To Say I Told You So...

Stop what you're doing, Global Warming has ended. I'm even gonna be lazy and just quote the whole damn thing:
Over the past year, anecdotal evidence for a cooling planet has exploded. China has its coldest winter in 100 years. Baghdad sees its first snow in all recorded history. North America has the most snowcover in 50 years, with places like Wisconsin the highest since record-keeping began. Record levels of Antarctic sea ice, record cold in Minnesota, Texas, Florida, Mexico, Australia, Iran, Greece, South Africa, Greenland, Argentina, Chile -- the list goes on and on.

No more than anecdotal evidence, to be sure. But now, that evidence has been supplanted by hard scientific fact. All four major global temperature tracking outlets (Hadley, NASA's, GISS, UAH, RSS) have released updated data. All show that over the past year, global temperatures have dropped precipitously.

A compiled list of all the sources can be seen here. The total amount of cooling ranges from 0.65C up to 0.75C -- a value large enough to wipe out nearly all the warming recorded over the past 100 years. All in one year's time. For all four sources, it's the single fastest temperature change ever recorded, either up or down.

Scientists quoted in a past DailyTech article link the cooling to reduced solar activity which they claim is a much larger driver of climate change than man-made greenhouse gases. The dramatic cooling seen in just 12 months time seems to bear that out. While the data doesn't itself disprove that carbon dioxide is acting to warm the planet, it does demonstrate clearly that more powerful factors are now cooling it.

Let's hope those factors stop fast. Cold is more damaging than heat. The mean temperature of the planet is about 54 degrees. Humans -- and most of the crops and animals we depend on -- prefer a temperature closer to 70.

Historically, the warm periods such as the Medieval Climate Optimum were beneficial for civilization. Corresponding cooling events such as the Little Ice Age, though, were uniformly bad news.

While this news is interesting, I highly doubt it's going to make the Al Gore's and David Suzuki's go away. Nor will it stop people from looking at me like I'm a homicidal maniac for letting my car run (extensively) when it feels like -40 outside. What it may do, however, is make John and Jane Public rethink how they feel about socialist, wealth redistributing entities like the Kyoto Accord.

One Spicy Meat Ball

Any time that some organization or scientist questions the reality of mainstream global warming theory, they instantly are accused of being in the pay of Big Oil. Of course this isn't always true, and in either case it doesn't necessarily put the credibility of the science into question.

In this context, it's curious that Al Gore's Alliance For Climate Protection can plan to spend $100 million a year on a massive ad campaign (sure to include lots of fear mongering) to convince American's to "quickly and meaningfully reduce their own global warming pollution" (*). $100 million is a lot of money for a "public awareness campaign". But I am curious as to who's funding such a large attempt to change public opinion.

Hopefully the Alliance has also remembered to buy their carbon offsets from Generation Investment Management. A $100 million marketing campaign is sure to generate a lot of hot air.

Stupid Idea Of The Day

Quebec to become first province to introduce carbon tax
Natural Resources Minister Claude Bechard, who announced Wednesday that a 0.8-cent-a-litre carbon tax will come into force on Oct 1, added that he hopes the oil companies, which are reporting record profits, would absorb the tax and not pass it on to the consumer. Oil industry spokespeople were unavailable for comment late Wednesday afternoon.

The tax, Bechard said, is based on the "polluter pays" principle. "That is not negotiable," the minister said.

While it's very nice of the Minister to "hope" that the oil companies will absorb the tax, he knows its not realistic. Taxes are a cost of doing business, and those costs will always filter down to the end-user. And since the oil market is relatively inelastic, this is basically just another sin-tax.

Global Warming Religion

Carte Blanche: Global Warming - A New Religion.
GLOBAL warming might yet be revealed as the biggest and most expensive myth since the dreaded Y2K bug.

Remember the horror stories at the end of 1999 - planes would fall out of the sky and Eskom would seize all because computers would be confused by the date 2000 in their internal clocks. Factories would stop working. Shop shelves would be emptied. Paranoid people actually stocked up on baked beans and candles in case.

Even the respectable media was saturated with a looming catastrophe that turned out to be a big hoax. That time the world's hardware and software makers and their consultants made billions of dollars.

Now once again the media is full of crisis. The ice caps and the glaciers are melting. The polar bears are dying. The weather has turned hot and cold and violent. It's all because we burn too much carbon.

The current hysteria has changed behaviour radically. It has cost billions, if not trillions and the spending has just started. Tens of thousands of expensive and not very efficient wind turbines have been erected in dozens of countries. Soon you won't see the desert sand for a sea of solar panels.

Crops are being diverted into ethanol production. The world's biggest companies have been forced into trading carbon credits and if they are not green enough - horror - they are excluded from socially responsible investment portfolios.

Once again there are many vested interests - NGOs, advisers, consultants, alternative energy purveyors, politicians and control freaks - who do well on all the excitement. [...]

Economics is about alternatives. Bjorn Lomborg, the Danish economist, who first questioned environmental hysteria in "The Skeptical Environmentalist", asks: if you had $50bn to spend, would you spend it on combating global warming, or on fighting HIV/Aids, hunger and malaria and freeing world trade? He would prefer that latter four priorities.

Richard Linzen, professor of meteorology as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, says there is little hard evidence backing up the sweeping claims of the Stern Report.

"He [Stern] is guilty of misreading the data, of distorting the evidence to suit his political masters' dogma, of throwing numbers about with reckless abandon, or promoting alarmism in place of rational discussion, and of reinventing climate history...

Linzen wrote in London Daily Mail: "Stern states quite boldly that the scale of global warming has been unprecedented for at least the past 1000 years but he cannot possibly be sure on this point because the data from previous centuries is unreliable...At most we have a 50-year span of accurate measurements. The only genuine global records of temperature come from weather balloons, since 1958, and from microwave sounding units, since 1978. What they indicate is a very gently warming trend, nothing approaching the apocalyptic vision of Sir Nicholas."

Linzen says that according to a host of historical accounts, Europe was far warmer in the Middle Ages than it is today, or that the 17th century was much colder. He adds that polar bears are doing quite well. There are now 22000, compared to 5000 in 1940.

Nor can we be sure that any change is due to mankind. There are many other possibilities, including the sun's radiation. He accuses Stern of wanting to blame western capitalism for every drought or famine.

"What is so tragic is the way this dubious ideology has achieved such dominance in our public life. Politicians love the green agenda, of course, because it means more control, more regulation, more taxes, more summits and more opportunities for displays of self-important zeal. The tragedy is that the likes of Sir Nicholas Stern are using bogus science to push forward this agenda."

When people stop critically thinking about the issues at hand, and start arguing in a completely emotional and irrational fashion, it's safe to say that Global Warming is becoming very similar to a religion. When people start mindlessly throwing money to the cause, it becomes more like a cult.

Kyoto: Just Doer

Manitoba's NDP Premier Gary Doer is a big supporter of the Kyoto protocol. In fact, Doer is such a Kyoto supporter, that he's campaigning on making Manitoba the first province in Canada to adopt Kyoto targets in legislation, to be met by 2012.

The problem is that Manitoba's emissions are growing, not shrinking. From 1990 to 2003 Manitoba's Greenhouse Gas emissions rose by 11.5%.

Probably most importantly, Gary Doer and the NDP don't have a plan to reduce emissions in Manitoba. The only plan the NDP has in place too meet Kyoto targets is to generate more hydro-electricity for export to Ontario, which does nothing to reduce emissions at home, but will hopefully provide enough carbon credits to meet our Kyoto targets.

The problem with reducing emissions in Manitoba is that most of our emissions come from transportation and farming, ie. the bulk of our economy. So to meet Kyoto targets, Doer had to come up with a way to reduce emissions without reducing emissions... and believe it or not, the carbon credit trading scheme in the Kyoto accord allows for just that!

The problems with carbon credit trading are detailed by the Financial Times here and here. Basically the problem in Britain is that government incentives to reduce emissions have artificially raised demand for carbon credits beyond what technology can be supplied. This artificially high demand for carbon credits raises the price of a carbon credit through the roof. And too often, because of financial incentives provided by the government, it doesn't matter to the purchaser that the 1kt reduction in GHG he just bought didn't actually reduce GHG gases by 1kt, because he's got his carbon credits and thats all he needs to appear to be the greenest guy on the block.

When Gary Doer talks about the opportunities created by being green, he's really talking about getting rich selling worthless carbon credits. It makes one very wary about Gary's sincerity on environmental issues.

Climate Fraud

An analysis of the carbon credit trading industry from The Financial Times reveals that the industry is largely a sham (h/t SDA).
The FT investigation found:

  • Widespread instances of people and organisations buying worthless credits that do not yield any reductions in carbon emissions.

  • Industrial companies profiting from doing very little - or from gaining carbon credits on the basis of efficiency gains from which they have already benefited substantially.

  • Brokers providing services of questionable or no value.

  • A shortage of verification, making it difficult for buyers to assess the true value of carbon credits.

  • Companies and individuals being charged over the odds for the private purchase of European Union carbon permits that have plummeted in value because they do not result in emissions cuts.

Carbon credits may or may not be useless in an environmental sense, but they make the buyers feel oh so good and green. As David Suzuki and Al Gore have made clear over the years, it's more about the image you portray than your actual effect on the environment.

The situation gets even murkier when you realize that the biggest carbon-con-artist of them all, Al Gore, purchases carbon credits from his own company. Gore then uses the profits from selling value-less credits to power his mega-mansion that in one month consumes twice as much power as the average American family does in a year.

It would be interesting to see an actual law enforcement agency look into this new "industry". If there is widespread fraud, the perpetrators should be shut down.

But why aren't environmentalists up in arms about this? They should be concerned that all of their hard work is for not due to some clever and greedy crooks. As Darcy says, environmentalists are only happy if the solution "resides within the loving arms of a money-sucking socialist scheme fathered by Karl Marx."

Lights Out

I'm just going to have to start stockpiling.
The federal government will ban the sale of inefficient light bulbs by 2012 in a move to reduce energy consumption and reduce greenhouse gases, Natural Resources Minister Gary Lunn said Wednesday.

I just can't imagine living without that warm glow of incandescents.

Climate Cure: Destroy The Pines

Brit Hume (h/t):
The latest threat to planet Earth via climate change has been identified as - all those darn pine trees.

A National Academy of Sciences report says the pine forests of Europe, Siberia and Canada may contribute to global warming because they trap sunlight reflected from snow - making the Earth warmer.

Conventional wisdom is that trees help cool the Earth by absorbing carbon dioxide and giving off moisture that creates clouds. But the report says that is only true for tropical forests. It says some computer models suggest that cutting forests in higher altitudes may reduce global warming.

Saving the environment by destroying it.

Doer Dithers - Golfers Lose

Yesterdays final round of the Masters was another gem. As is the norm at Augusta National, the tournament was decided on the back nine on Sunday.

Zach Johnson held off charges from Tiger Woods, Retief Goosen, and Justin Rose on the back nine on Sunday. Johnson, a relatively unknown player with only one PGA Tour victory previously, was as cool as a cucumber until he three-putted the 17th hole for bogey, and hit a horrible approach to the 18th green, but saved par with a brilliant chip from the right-side of the green. Retief couldn't buy a putt when he needed one. Justin Rose was a roller-coaster, making a total of three double-bogies during Sunday's round, including the killer on the seventeenth hole. Tiger's chances were blown when he hit his second shot on the par-five fifteenth into the water, and after failing to convert a birdie chance on the par-three sixteenth.

But Tiger's not the only golfer who got screwed yesterday. The folks in Selkirk will be without their golf course for several weeks. While the rest of Selkirk is still under flash-flood warning, and much damage has been done already; Gary Doer showed up on Friday to promise funding for repairs, meanwhile doing nothing to actually stop more flooding.

The sad thing is that this flooding is caused by ice jams. Apparently the provincial government can spend billions of dollars protecting Winnipeg from spring flooding, but is completely stumped when it comes to ice. While Selkirk floods, Doer does nothing. Blow it up Gary!

Is Che Guevara Living in Canada

The mystery surrounding Che Guevara continues to this day.
Miami Cuban emigre Gustavo Villoldo, 71, a veteran of the failed US-backed Bay of Pigs invasion, said he buried Guevara and two colleagues in October 1967 in a pit in Vallegrande, Bolivia, after cutting a lock of the hair of the Argentine-born revolutionary hero.

What if Guevara didn't actually die? What if he faked his own death to avoid further assassination attempts? Surely for someone of Che's status would have no problem finding sanctuary in a friendly country, such as Canada. And surely there is no greater supporter in Canada of radical socialism than the CBC and the academic community.

Is it just a coincidence that David Suzuki started working for the CBC just two years after Che Guevara was killed? Would it not be easy for the academic community to vouch for their poster-boy under a fake name? What if that fake name was David Suzuki? If thats not enough to think about, there's the visual evidence:

Al Gore Taking Heat

It's looking to be a bad start to the week for Al Gore. He's being asked questions about his profits from strip mining companies. Wednesday will be a tough day, having to answer some tough questions. Via Drudge Report:
Mr. Gore: You have said several times that we have 10 years to act to stave off global warming. Was that 10 years from the first time you said that or 10 years from now? We just wanted to get a firm date from you that we can hold you to.

Mr. Gore: How can you continue to claim that global warming on Earth is primarily caused by mankind when other planets (Mars, Jupiter and Pluto) with no confirmed life forms and certainly no man-made industrial greenhouse gas emissions also show signs of global warming? Wouldn’t it make more sense that the sun is responsible for warming since it is the common denominator?

Mr. Gore: Joseph Romm, the executive director for the Center for Energy and Climate Solutions, has said we must build 700 large nuclear plants to stave off climate change. Where do you stand on the need for nuclear energy?

Mr. Gore: Do you think the earth is significantly overpopulated and that is a major contributor to your view of climate change. (If yes, what do you think is a sustainable population for the planet?)

And as if that isn't bad enough, he's being challenged to a debate by Lord Monkton of Scotland.
The Viscount Monckton of Brenchley presents his compliments to Vice-President Albert Gore and by these presents challenges the said former Vice-President to a head-to-head, internationally-televised debate upon the question, 'That our effect on climate is not dangerous,' to be held in the Library of the Oxford University Museum of Natural History at a date of the Vice-President's choosing.

"Forasmuch as it is His Lordship who now flings down the gauntlet to the Vice-President, it shall be the Vice-President's prerogative and right to choose his weapons by specifying the form of the Great Debate. May the Truth win! Magna est veritas, et praevalet. God Bless America! God Save the Queen!

I would have preferred dueling till death, but a debate would be entertaining. My money's on the fancy-talkin' Scotsman!

Al Gore and Strippers

Okay, so not the sexy lady-type strippers. This is about strip mining (h/t). More importantly, it's about how Al Gore is profiting at the environments expense, while he travels the globe speaking against such "ills".
Two massive white mountains of leftover rock waste are evidence of three decades of mining that earned Gore more than $500,000 in royalty payments for the mineral rights to his property. [...]

In its last year of full operation in 2002, the Gordonsville-Cumberland mines ranked 22nd among all metal mining operations in the U.S., with about 4.1 million pounds of toxic releases. The top releasing mine, Red Dog Mine in Alaska, emitted about 482 million pounds that year.

The Great Global Warming Swindle

The documentary "The Great Global Warming Swindle" has been getting a lot of play on The Drudge Report lately. You can now watch the full documentary on Google Video.

The Swindle documents how the science behind Global Warming is in fact crumbling, and skepticism in the field is growing, which is not indicative of the "consensus" we're always told about. Along the same lines they attack the legitimacy of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, quoting skeptical, but contributing scientists.

I strongly suggest everybody check it out if they've got an hour to spare.
Update: A great companion piece to add some balance to this film is An Inconvenient Truth... Or A Convenient Fiction.

Aliens Key To Climate Fix

More evidence that the climate doom-mongers are stark raving mad.
Paul Hellyer, 83, is calling for a public disclosure of alien technology obtained during alleged UFO crashes -- such as the mysterious 1947 incident in Roswell, New Mexico -- because he believes alien species can provide humanity with a viable alternative to fossil fuels.

So it's possible that Stephane Dion and David Suzuki aren't the only little green men watching out for the environment.

At the same time, I don't know why we'd have to look to extra-terrestrial technology, when we've got a domestic solution; Santa Clause and his amazing flying-reindeer. Reindeer could be used to replace Canada's fuel burning aircrafts, thus reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The obvious advantage here is that reindeer are a sustainable and renewable resource.

I hope the folks at PETA don't see this.

Carbon Counters Beware

From England, a whole new way to eat guilt free.
An eco-label for food that shows the amount of greenhouse gases involved in growing and transporting it is being considered by the Government, David Miliband, the Environment Secretary, will announce today.

The idea is to standardise green labelling schemes which have been promised so far by Tesco, Asda and Marks and Spencer, and give the consumer the confidence to choose food which is genuinely environmentally friendly, Mr Miliband will tell the National Farmers' Union's conference in Birmingham.

It will be interesting to see how consumers and fear-mongers react when they find out that healthy food is less environmentally friendly than the same stuff from large coproate producers.
A study carried out for the Government by Manchester Business School said milk, tomatoes and chicken produced by organic methods were less environmentally friendly than the same products produced by conventional means because they used more fossil fuels.

On the note of fear-mongers, this also puts David Suzuki in a bit of a bind, as he's an advocate of organic farming. In June 2002 he wrote:
But organic farming isn't about turning back the clock, it's about moving forward. It's about smart farming to help maintain healthy ecosystems. Conventional farming produces high yields, but there are also enormous costs - pollution of groundwater, rivers, lakes and coastal areas, and reduced soil productivity through nutrient leaching. The use of pesticides and herbicides also kills beneficial non-target species and poses a health risk to farm workers and potentially to consumers. None of these "external" costs are factored in to the price of conventionally grown crops.

Will Dr. Suzuki admit that he was wrong in 2002, and that organic farming is in fact causing the destruction of our planet?

David Suzuki, Meet Kim Jong-Il

David Suzuki and Kim Jong-Il have something in common, a hatred of cars.
NORTH Korean leader Kim Jong-Il has ordered the seizure of all Japanese-made cars in the communist country after he spotted a broken-down model blocking a road. [...]

It remains to be seen whether North Korean authorities will be able to implement the order fully, because most of the cars operating in the country are Japanese, Yonhap said.

And for David Suzuki's view of Canada in twenty years...
Our cities will be more livable places because we won't be using cars nearly so much.

We'll have a live in a radically different way. We'll basically live, work and play in the same area, we won't need cars to cover that distance. We'll have to have dense pockets of settlement, connected to each other by rapid transit. [...]

We've got to start using taxation to encourage the things we want and discourage the things we don't want. We should pull back taxes on personal income and we should be taxing the hell out of pollution and carbon is one of those pollutants.

I Thought Ontario Hated Gas

You can't have your cake, and eat it too (h/t).
Buried in the release of Ontario Power Generation's 2006 financial results last Friday was an intriguing paragraph:

"OPG is exploring the potential development of a gas-fuelled electricity generation station at its Lakeview site and is continuing with the decommissioning and demolition of the Lakeview coal-fired generating station."

So, when the oil-sands are shut down because of the bitching and moaning political pressure coming from Ontario, are these bastards going to pay market prices for their gas-powered electricity? Doubtful. More likely is we'll start to hear about another National Energy Program.

And for a province who's number one concern is the environment, can't they do any better than gas? Why not go nuclear? If Ontario is all about "alternative energy", why can't they come up with any alternatives? Because the economic price would be too high, of course. Those who think that the price would be too high for Ontario should keep in mind the damage that would be done to Alberta by over-regulating the oil-sands.

Holland on the Oilsands Growth

Mark Holland, Liberal Natural Resources Critic and Ontario MP was recently caught waxing on about nationalizing the Oilsands in Alberta. He recently had to endure a barrage of questions from the MSM on the subject (h/t David Akin).
REPORTER: Do you think that growth in the oil sands is inappropriate?

HOLLAND: I think that growth in the oil sands that would result in greenhouse gas emissions that would negate our ability to meet our international commitments is not acceptable.

That doesn't sound like a resounding denunciation of his previous comments. That sounds mighty wishy-washy.

But of course, Holland says he wants to attack all emmission producing industries equally, and the Canadian auto industry is doing its part to curb emissions:
The Chrysler Group will eliminate as many as 2,000 jobs in Canada in a restructuring announcement next week that will deepen the massive job cuts and plant closings that are reshaping the auto industry in North America.

The cuts in Canada represent about 20 per cent of the 10,000 jobs the Chrysler division of DaimlerChrysler AG is wiping out as it undergoes a downsizing similar to those already undertaken by Detroit rivals Ford Motor Co. and General Motors Corp., industry sources said.

If this is what Dion means when he talks about a "green economy" and "megatonnes of money", we should all be very afraid. On the bright side however, those 2000 folks in Central Canada who will be losing their jobs can, for the time being at least, find better jobs out West in the expanding oilsands.

Experts Attack Climate "Consensus"

Dr. Tim Ball, the first Canadian to receive a PhD in Climatology from the University of London, England, and Professor of Climatology at the University of Winnipeg for 32 years wrote in the Canadian Free Press about "Global Warming":
Believe it or not, Global Warming is not due to human contribution of Carbon Dioxide (CO2). This in fact is the greatest deception in the history of science. We are wasting time, energy and trillions of dollars while creating unnecessary fear and consternation over an issue with no scientific justification.

Fred Singer, an environmental scientist at the University of Virginia has said:
"The facts and the data are pretty convincing now," he said. "Any warming taking place is largely due to natural variability, not human activity. The way we can tell is by comparing the pattern of warming with what greenhouse warming models predict. They don't agree."

David R. Legates, Delaware's state climatologist has written
"It is simply impossible to conclude that the net effect of greenhouse gases endangers human health and welfare,"

Looks like a consensus to me.

Al Gore's Nominated For What?!

Al Gore is being nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. So much for credibility.
Two Norwegian parliamentarians have nominated former U.S. Vice President Al Gore for the Nobel Peace Prize for raising awareness of climate change.

[...]

"I think climate change is this century's most important and most threatening environmental issue, and I think Al Gore has made a difference in putting climate change on the global agenda," Conservative MP Boerge Brende told Reuters.

[...]

"Al Gore with his movie and his dedication and his active diplomacy among world leaders has really moved the issue forward," said Brende, environment minister in 2001-2004.

[...]

Brende teamed up with a political opponent from the Socialist Left party, Heidi Soerensen, to nominate Gore for the peace prize by the February 1 deadline for nominations.

They also nominated Inuit campaigner Sheila Watt-Cloutier of Canada for her work to show how climate change is affecting the lives of the Arctic indigenous people, Brende said.

Now that the eco-freaks have tied "climate change", Kyoto, and world peace together, anybody who would claim that Al Gore is a quack, must be a threat to world peace... right?

Which would explain why the media and Liberals are trying to make Stephen Harper look poor by rehashing his past opposition to the Kyoto accord.

The problem with that argument is that Harper was right, Kyoto was and is economically unachievable in Canada, and it's been demonstrated for the last ten years. And Al Gore is a quack. His movie is nothing more than promotion for himself and his personal ideological agenda. He loves everybody asking him "are you running for President?" And a Nobel Peace Prize would do wonders for that!

Imagine, a Nobel Peace laureates running for President. Surely he'd be just the man to solve the "quagmire" in Iraq. Hell, his foreign policy could be exactlty the same as his domestic policy. It's the economy, stupid.

Iraq's sectarian bloodshed could be easily solved if all Iraqi's realized that their national economic dependence on oil is evil - just like all good green Americans. Once this was accomplished there would be little wealth left for any factions to fight over. Problem solved!

Not to mention that pesky Katrina, it was all George W. Bush's fault (because he's the cause of climate change). If Gore had been President the whole deal would have been averted, and the Saints would be playing in Miami this weekend!

But probably not, so I digress.

Climate Cult Re-Education (Part II)

It seems common sense actually does prevail in certain parts of the world (h/t Dust My Broom):
The school board in this suburb south of Seattle has restricted showings of Al Gore's movie on global warming, including requiring that it be balanced with an adequate opposing viewpoint.

The board also required Superintendent Tom Murphy to approve when the former vice president's film, "An Inconvenient Truth," can be presented. [...]

"We have to ensure that our schools are not being used to politically indoctrinate anyone," said board member Dave Larson, who with Barney and board member Charlie Hoff voted Tuesday for the requirements.
The films co-producer Laurie David responded by saying, "There is no opposing view to science, which is fact, and the facts are clear that global warming is here, now."

Once Al Gore says it's "science", we must all bow down to the great God of Science, and obey each and every edict handed down through the great Prophet Al Gore (Peaceful Weather Be Upon Him).

More evidence that Gore is trying to brainwash children into his Climate Cult:
The National Science Teachers Association turned down an offer from the film's producers for 50,000 free DVDs for classroom use. The association said it didn't want to be seen as politically endorsing the film or open itself to requests from other special interests.
Gore should go back to complaining about how the 2000 election was stolen from him.

Climate Cult Re-Education

Al-Qaeda has their madrassas. David Koresh had his Branch Davidians holed up in a compound in Waco, Texas. Hitler replaced teachers in established German schools.

And then Al Gore has Nashville for his "Climate Warriors":
Dave Mowat is now one of Al Gore's climate warriors.

Mr. Mowat, chief executive officer of Vancouver City Savings Credit Union, spent two days in a Nashville hotel last week being trained to present his own version of Mr. Gore's An Inconvenient Truth to Canadian audiences.

Mr. Mowat rubbed shoulders with 200 other business leaders, environmentalists, scientists and luminaries -- including A-list actress Cameron Diaz -- as they got tips from the former U.S. vice-president on how to make the case for action against global warming.
Once these Climate Warriors are accepted, they're given marching orders and targets:
Last week's session started with Mr. Gore giving the complete An Inconvenient Truth lecture, Mr. Mowat said. It was followed by explanations of the science behind each of the 266 slides in the show, and how they should be used in a presentation.

Attendees got tips on how to condense the show for kids, for church groups or for other specific audiences. And there was advice on responding to questions, and help with improving presentation skills.
The only Inconvenient Truth in that room is the fact that Al Gore is attempting to dishonestly brainwash 300 million American's into electing him President.

Polluted Politicians

Proof that pollution isn't just Greenhouse Gases:
The group Environmental Defence did laboratory testing on Environment Minister Rona Ambrose, NDP Leader Jack Layton, Health Minister Tony Clement and Liberal environment critic John Godfrey.

The study found that Ambrose had fewer flame-retardants in her blood than Layton, but had a higher level of arsenic than the New Democrat leader.

Clement's blood, meanwhile, contains polychlorinated biphenyls, or PCBs, despite the fact they have been banned for years. But Clement's blood was lower in neurotoxic mercury than Godfrey's.

The results released Wednesday are part of the report Toxic Nation on Parliament Hill: A Report on Pollution in Four Canadian Politicians, which is intended to serve as a wake-up call for leaders about the state of pollution in Canada.

Godfrey, the report found, had the highest number of pollutants in his blood at 55.

Clement and Layton followed with 45 toxic contaminants each and Ambrose had the cleanest blood with 49 contaminants.

Of the 103 pollutants tested for, 61 were detected in the four politicians.

Combined, their blood contained a chilling mix of nasty substances, including 54 carcinogens, 37 hormone disruptors, 16 respiratory toxins, 54 reproductive or developmental toxins and 33 neurotoxins.

It kinda makes you wonder how many of us will be around to see the world melt. But hopefully the report helps the general public, and the Kyoto cheerleaders, wrap their minds around the fact that pollution isn't just "greenhouse gases".

Now, where are my cigarettes?
