Anita Neville Running Scared

You know Anita Neville is worried about her chances in the next election. When a Liberal MP starts making accusations of racism to members of the opposition, you know they're worried about something.

From Sunday's Free Press:
When it comes to prime ministerial visits, Stephen Harper appears to be giving Manitoba the cold shoulder. [...]

Winnipeg South Centre Liberal MP Anita Neville said she believes Harper isn't spending more time in Manitoba because he is focused on potential electoral gains elsewhere in the country.

Neville also wonders if the fact Manitoba has a high aboriginal population may be playing a role in his travels.

This is why Anita Neville has lost all credibility in Winnipeg South Centre. She takes a legitimate issue, such as the PMs travel schedule and turns it into a joke. Instead of using the opportunity to raise issues of local importance, she takes cheap shots at the Prime Minister, and accuses him of being racist.

As the Blonde Conservative points out, there really just isn't much for the Prime Minister to do in Manitoba these days.

If Neville wants to accuse the PM of not caring about Manitoba, fine. But she'd have to ignore the hundreds of millions of dollars that the feds are contributing to the floodway expansion, the human rights museum, and the increased transfers from the Conservatives' last budget.

Belinda Tucks Tail; Runs To Daddy

National Newswatch is reporting that Belinda Stronach will not run for re-election.

This shouldn't come as a surprise, as her political career has been bleak, to say the least. She entered politics with the Conservative Party of Canada, and made a run for the party leadership, but failed. Consequently, she later crossed the floor to prop up the Liberal minority government in exchange for a cabinet posting under Paul Martin.

Her political fortunes continued to flounder after that, with the Liberal Party losing the 2006 election to the Conservative party.

After Paul Martin's retirement in 2006, Belinda expressed an interest in seeking the Liberal leadership. Quickly realizing she had no chance of winning, she announced that should not seek the party leadership. Seeking the leadership of two different parties, within two years would have taken a toll on her credibility.

Stronach also made big news with her high-profile, home-wrecking affair with former NHL tough-guy, and current TSN loud-mouth Tie Domi.

Not surprisingly, Stronach also announced she will be taking the cushy position of Executive Vice-Chairman at her fathers auto parts company Magna International, effective immediately.

It should also be noted that she did not resign her seat, and seems to be attempting to collect two paychecks at the same time. I sincerely hope this was an omission in the press release. But it would be the "Liberal way" to keep collecting checks and providing nothing in return.
Update: Steve Janke posts about how Magna had a press release out about the situation, before the Liberals even knew what was going on. Not good news for Stephane Dion.
Update 2: Right in Manitoba translated an article from Le Presse claiming that Stephen Harper is planning on a Spring 2008 election. How the hell can Belinda fake being an MP for an entire year? She's obviously got to resign her seat, which will cost the Liberals yet another vote in the House.

Anita Neville Demands Another Apology

Anita Neville is demanding an apology (again). The last time she got so cranky was when somebody pointed out that Winnipeg has a crime problem.

This week Neville's got a beef with Indian Affairs Minister Jim Prentice.
Prentice said that he hopes $50.8 million in taxpayer grants and contributions to the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs isn't used "in planning illegal and disruptive blockades."

"I am prepared to order forensic audits of every organization that participates in blockades and civil disobedience to ensure that monies intended for children were not used to plan these activities," he wrote.

Neville accused Prentice of making threats to "quash the democratic voices" of aboriginals who wish to show their disapproval with the Tory budget.

What Neville doesn't understand, is that some things should not receive government funding, ie. road blocks that damage the economy and property. Do taxpayers pay millions of dollars for highways, just to spend millions more on shutting them down in protest? Hell no! It makes life more difficult for many communities.

It's about time these terror tactics stopped because it's getting out of hand. And thats just this month alone!

The standoff in Caledonia has cost Ontario taxpayers over $46 million to date. Dalton McGuinty's pathetic performance on this file is now costing the federal government over $26 million.

Worse than the cost incurred to taxpayers is the message this sends to the citizens of Canada; Justice will not prevail, welfare payments will. When our federal MPs start defending criminal actions, you know there is a problem.

Anita Neville should be turfed in the next election. When problems arise, she sticks her head in the sand. When confronted, she feigns incredible insult and demands apologies. When will she actually stand up for Winnipegers?

Is Che Guevara Living in Canada

The mystery surrounding Che Guevara continues to this day.
Miami Cuban emigre Gustavo Villoldo, 71, a veteran of the failed US-backed Bay of Pigs invasion, said he buried Guevara and two colleagues in October 1967 in a pit in Vallegrande, Bolivia, after cutting a lock of the hair of the Argentine-born revolutionary hero.

What if Guevara didn't actually die? What if he faked his own death to avoid further assassination attempts? Surely for someone of Che's status would have no problem finding sanctuary in a friendly country, such as Canada. And surely there is no greater supporter in Canada of radical socialism than the CBC and the academic community.

Is it just a coincidence that David Suzuki started working for the CBC just two years after Che Guevara was killed? Would it not be easy for the academic community to vouch for their poster-boy under a fake name? What if that fake name was David Suzuki? If thats not enough to think about, there's the visual evidence:

PC Madness At The U of Winnipeg

Transexual activists at the University of Winnipeg are demanding "gender neutral" washroom be installed on campus (link).

The activists' are trying to frame the issue was a human rights concern.
"It's a human right to pee," said Rune Breckon, a transgender student enrolled in women and gender studies at the University of Winnipeg.

For Breckon, who doesn't wish to be described as either a man or a woman, going to the washroom has proven awkward -- people constantly stare and sometimes make comments.

"They'll come in, stop and look, then go back and look at the sign," said Breckon.

"When I go into the women's washroom, because that's where I feel more comfortable, I'm told to leave. When I go into the men's bathroom, I'm told to leave because I don't look like a dude. But I just need to pee."

There already are two single-stalled washrooms on campus that would provide exactly the privacy the tranny's are looking for. But as with all leftist activists, it's just never enough.

I can't wait to see the line-ups at Winnipeg Stadium when Rune Breckon sets his sights on the stadium's infamous troughs.
Update: The Winnipeg Free Press caught onto this one a little late.
IMAGINE that you can't walk into either a men's or women's washroom without feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome.

Imagine that you're a person who prefers to be called "they", because neither "he" nor "she" really defines you. [...]

U of W communications director Robin Alford said that protecting each person's dignity will be the priority for U of W.

U of W will be able to design its new $30-million science complex with gender neutral washrooms, Alford pointed out.
Belik said that one solution might be single-stall washrooms that could accommodate wheelchairs, a mother breast-feeding, a transgendered person, or a family with a baby or toddler.

But it is vital that no person be "outed" by being seen to use such facilities, Belik said.

Mexico Sunday and Mental Disorders

Mexico Sunday is a little tradition a few friends and I have. How it goes is, we turn up the heat in the apartment. Way up. The point is to make you sweat, like if you were in Mexico. Then we all dress up in shorts and Hawaiian shirts, and drink the afternoon away while pretending we're on a beach in Mexico. Usually to cap the day off we'll go to our favorite Mexican restaurant, Carlos & Murphy's for chicken wings and more beer.

The tradition is based on temporarily suspending our perception of reality, ie. pretending we're on a Mexican beach, not sitting in a shitty apartment in Winnipeg. Whenever we do this, I always laugh at myself because I'm behaving like a liberal.

Now, am I stating that intentional delusion is a trait that liberals extol? You bet I am!

Recently in the comments, the "Anti-Blogger" challenged me to make a "documentary". I figured the only documentary I could make would be me sitting in front of a white wall bashing liberals.

Fortunately, somebody (actually lots of people) have beat me to it, although the wall behind him isn't white. Not to mention that this guy bashes liberalism better than I would. He goes on for over 40 minutes, and each one is a gem. But it's worth the listen.

Harper's Politics Not Dirty

Much has been made about the comments PM Harper almost made in the House yesterday. The comments were about this article in the Vancouver Sun, revealing a link between a Liberal MP and a former terrorist group.

The Liberals are crying foul, because they think its cheap politics to bring up an MPs family. Normally, I'd agree with them.

However, this has nothing to do with an individual MP and his family, but has everything to do with the depths to which the Liberal Party of Canada will stoop to receive support - from anybody.

Darshan Singh Saini, who's the father of Liberal MP for Mississauga-Brampton South Navdeep Singh Bains, is listed as a potential witness in the Air India bombing investigation.

Mr. Saini also has ties to Liberal Gerrard Kennedy. Saini was even supposed to attend the Liberal leadership convention in support of Kennedy, but apparently fell ill. It's a good thing that his son-in-law, Liberal MP Bains, was there to deliver the Sikh vote to Kennedy, which then went to Stephane Dion. It's no secret that Kennedy delivered the leadership to Dion, and Mr. Bains played an influential role.

Mr. Saini was also the spokesman for the Ontario wing of Babbar Khalsa Panthak. The Babbar Khalsa has since been listed as a terrorist organization by the United States and Britian for engaging in activities such as torture, rape, targeted assasinations, and suicide bombings worldwide. Which leaves a casual observer asking "Why not in Canada"?

So the question isn't about Mr. Bains, it's about how much influence terrorist groups have in the Liberal party, and how they are exerting that influence. It's a fair question, and it deserves not only a response from the Liberal party, but probably a little soul-searching as well.

Liberalism is A Mental Disorder

From The Vanguard comes the question that demands an answer.
Why are liberals called "progressives?" What is so progressive about opposing the most creative, dynamic economic system in history, one that thrives on freedom and has lifted more people out of poverty and hopelessness than any other in history?

Holland on the Oilsands Growth

Mark Holland, Liberal Natural Resources Critic and Ontario MP was recently caught waxing on about nationalizing the Oilsands in Alberta. He recently had to endure a barrage of questions from the MSM on the subject (h/t David Akin).
REPORTER: Do you think that growth in the oil sands is inappropriate?

HOLLAND: I think that growth in the oil sands that would result in greenhouse gas emissions that would negate our ability to meet our international commitments is not acceptable.

That doesn't sound like a resounding denunciation of his previous comments. That sounds mighty wishy-washy.

But of course, Holland says he wants to attack all emmission producing industries equally, and the Canadian auto industry is doing its part to curb emissions:
The Chrysler Group will eliminate as many as 2,000 jobs in Canada in a restructuring announcement next week that will deepen the massive job cuts and plant closings that are reshaping the auto industry in North America.

The cuts in Canada represent about 20 per cent of the 10,000 jobs the Chrysler division of DaimlerChrysler AG is wiping out as it undergoes a downsizing similar to those already undertaken by Detroit rivals Ford Motor Co. and General Motors Corp., industry sources said.

If this is what Dion means when he talks about a "green economy" and "megatonnes of money", we should all be very afraid. On the bright side however, those 2000 folks in Central Canada who will be losing their jobs can, for the time being at least, find better jobs out West in the expanding oilsands.

Sheep In Sheeps Clothing

Garth Turner, everybody's favorite big-mouth MP who was kicked out of the Conservative Party, is finally coming out of the closet (h/t). I guess Garth was getting lonely sitting in Parliament all by himself, so he's going to sit with the Liberals.

Shockingly, Mr. Turner will not be resigning his seat and run in a byelection as a Liberal. I say shockingly because Mr. Turner wrote on his blog on February 9, 2006:
I am a democrat who believes everyone in the House of Commons, including the cabinet members who make up the government, should be elected. They should sit in Parliament as they were elected. If they decide to change parties, they should go and get re-elected.

Hilariously, it was Garth Turner's outspoken criticism of David Emerson's floor-crossing which got him kicked out of the Conservative Party in the first place. Of couse, Garth could have come out this morning and announced that he was going to run in the next election as a Liberal and remain an Independent until that time, but his political masters obviously have a plan for him.

While the lack of any meaningful principles with this man is astounding, hearing him try to come up with a reason why his previous statements don't apply to himself should prove to be quite amusing. I suppose he could claim he's not crossing the floor, just slowly making his way around it.

Driving Liberals Insane

Since Wajid Khan crossed the floor recently, many Liberals have been begging to see the report he wrote after his Middle East fact finding mission, even though Paul Martin routinely did NOT make such reports public. The speculation amongst Liberal blogs is that "either the report that Khan wrote does not exist, or it does exist and is of such poor quality that it could not be released."

Today, CTV is reporting that in fact, the report does exist. Further more, Harper will be implementing some of the recommendations from said report in government policy.

And, Harper will kick sand in their Liberal faces to boot:
Wajid Khan, the embattled former Liberal MP who recently crossed the floor to the Conservatives, will be heading out on another fact-finding mission in his role as special advisor on the Middle East.

Government sources told The Globe and Mail that Prime Minister Stephen Harper will be sending Khan to Afghanistan and Pakistan, though there were no details on when he will be leaving.

But what about the money that Khan's dealership loaned to his riding association? Apparently there's nothing there either:
Elections Canada says there's nothing illegal in MP Wajid Khan using loans from his Toronto car dealership to finance his riding association and his election campaigns.

And even if those loans are never repaid -- effectively turning them into huge personal or corporate donations that are supposed to be prohibited -- there is likely nothing that the independent watchdog can do about it.
So it seems the only law that was broken was that the Liberal riding association didn't pay back the money it was loaned. I'd say that Stephane Dion owes Wajid Kahn a couple hundred grand!

Liberals bring back Income Trust Debate

There has been one issue this year where the Liberal's actually scored some points at the hands of the Conservative's, and that would be Income Trusts. Apparently it really is hard to teach an old dog new tricks...
The public debate over the Conservative income trust tax is poised to reignite as the Liberals and Bloc Quebecois try this week to force special parliamentary hearings to probe the controversial levy. [...]

Heading into this week's vote on whether to call witnesses, the Liberals and Bloc together have six votes on the 12-member committee while the NDP has one and the Tories have four, not including the Conservative chair, who only votes in the case of a tie.

NDP finance critic Judy Wasylycia-Leis said she's not decided whether to back the Liberal bid. If she agreed to, she said, she'd want to examine the former Liberal government's role in letting trusts grow unchecked for so many years.
Which is all very interesting, considering what Judy Alphabet had to say back in November:
Judy Wasylycia-Leis, the NDP's finance critic, praised the Conservatives' move, noting her party had called last week for an income trust moratorium.

She rejected the idea these changes were an attack on seniors.

"Not every senior has a stockbroker, and some of these provisions will help all seniors. Also, many seniors were losing their savings because in fact income trusts were not reporting their true value," she said.

"Some will lose, yes, but in the long run, Canadians will win."
At the time Liberal Finance critic John McCallum also said, "We agree with the long-term destination ... what object to is the dishonesty and the process. It was not necessary to have a $25-billion meltdown to get to that destination." Even the Finance Minister of Quebec supported the levy.

The Liberals are even threatening to enlist their secret weapon, the Senate:
The Liberals and the Bloc appear to have enough combined seats on the finance committee to force it to call witnesses. But Liberal finance critic John McCallum says the Liberal-dominated Senate would very likely commence its own hearings on the tax if the Commons bid fails.

"I'm virtually certain we'd move for Senate hearings," he said.

The Liberals are just beating the same dead horse. They're hoping that this will remind people that Stephen Harper "lied" about Income Trusts. But I'm thinking it'll backfire on them.

Aside from the obvious flip-flop, it should also be noted that the investigation into Liberal insider trading is still continuing, and could very well shed light as to why the Liberals have been holding these income trusts so near and dear to their hearts.

It's no wonder Harper can get so much done in a minority government, when the opposition is still dealing with the issues of three-months-ago.

Go Suck An Egg

Which is what I'd like to pass on to Jon Stewart. "Go Suck An Egg" was a phrase used to tell a friend, or somebody you respected, that they were out of line.

I've been a big fan of Jon Stewart for years. Loved, laughed, and cried with the guy. He was funny because he'd take shots at anyone, anything, anytime.

In recent months, The Daily Show has turned into a total attack on George W. Bush. There is no more "humourous balance", it's just plain old slander.

In my opinion, he's becoming as bad as George Strombolobluplupus on the CBC, who makes sure that at least fifteen minutes of each show is dedicated to trashing GWB, often for no good reason.

Stephen Colbert is now the only guy who I'll watch during the drinking hour. He's an equal opportunity hater, and even more importantly he's hilariously self-indulgent, and self-deprecating.

Stombo and Stewart can keep gangbanging the same drum till the film runs out. Colbert will continue to be creative in his fight for truthiness. Till that film runs out though, Go Suck An Egg!

Liberal Scandals Just Won't Stop

I feel sorry for Liberal supporters sometimes. The party just can't clean the dirt off of itself (Link).
Police have made six more arrests in a long-running investigation into the HRDC "boondoggle."
(snip)
The accused are from Toronto, Mississauga and Oakville. Four of the them -- Harbhinder Bajwa, John Danson, Laura Mikos and Harvinder Rakhra -- are charged with fraud and bribery. The other two -- Phillip Goodman and Peter Rethazy -- are charged with conspiracy to commit fraud.

The Tories issued a news release noting that people with the same names as those charged are listed as past donors to the Liberal party.
The party has made it's bed, now it's time to go to sleep.

Go Ahead, Make My Day

The treasonous Gilles Duceppe is making wild threats about toppling the government over military operations in Afghanistan. Not surprisingly, he's got support from other opposition parties.
Bloc Quebecois Leader Gilles Duceppe warned Monday he might table a non-confidence motion if the mandate of Canadian soldiers in the wartorn country doesn't change.

And the other opposition parties suggested they might join a Bloc effort to that effect in the new year.

Duceppe is only making these threats because Quebec is starting to send a lot more troops over. He is not concerned with the well being of Canada's reputation on the International stage. His only concern is not losing more seats in Quebec come next election.

Fortunately for Duceppe, the Liberal Party has just elected another coward in Stephane Dion. Dion has also expressed skepticism about the War in Afghanistan, saying, "We'll wait to see (the motion) before making a choice."

The NDP's position on Afghanistan is quite clear. Jack Bin Layton can't cut-and-run fast enough. His policy is unilateral withdrawal, and possible peace talks with the Taliban.

These are the three parties that are currently screaming bloody murder about a $5M cut to the "Status Of Women". Yet they have no problem sending every woman in Afghanistan back into the stone age. Not to mention all of those schools we've built, they'll all be promptly destroyed.

Either way, I don't think Duceppe, Dion, or Jack Bin Layton have the guts to fight an election over the Afghan War. Since Layton started spouting off about unilateral withdrawal, the NDP's popularity has dropped by six percent. If Canadians do decide that they want out of Afghanistan (and I don't think they do), surely they wouldn't decide to elect the Liberals - who got us into Afghanistan in the first place. Which leaves the Bloc, who only runs candidates in Quebec.

So the only party that would actually gain from making the Afghan War the main election issue, is the Bloc. That being said, neither the Bloc, or Liberals have presented any kind of an alternative strategy in Afghanistan - while the NDPs plan is offensive to most Canadians. Dion will have a tough time articulating any kind of "alternative strategy" in Afghanistan, since he was sitting in Cabinet when the Liberal government committed our troops to the mission.

Duceppe is bluffing, however. And I think Harper should call him on it.

Who's The Boss (Part 2)

Adrian Measner isn't done yet. His lackeys have got his back.

Who's The Boss?

Via Dust My Broom, we see that Canadian Wheat Board president Adrian Measner is being fired.

Why? Well, the guy has a slightly backwards idea of what his job description is:
Measner has recently spoken out in defence of the board's marketing monopoly and warned of the economic consequences for the board, the City of Winnipeg and province of Manitoba if the government allows competition.

For a guy who's supposed to be working for FARMERS, his priorities seem a little mixed up. Notice, the warning of "economic consequences" did not include farmers, but did include the CWB itself. Oh the horror! All those unemployed bureaucrats, having to find jobs where they have to be accountable.
