Liberal Death Spiral Continues

Everybody has read something or other about "insider Liberals" who have been complaining about the Liberal campaign thus far. Usually those criticisms have been limited to anonymous sources, and former insiders. Now it's getting worse.

Gerry Lenoski, the Liberal candidate for Burnaby-New Westminster, is already talking about the future, after Dion.

"Some day Mr. Dion may not be leader, and I hope Michael Ignatieff will replace him," Lenoski said in an interview. "Everybody has a best before date."

Lenoski worked on Ignatieff's campaign for the Liberal leadership race in 2006.

When candidates in the current election are already abandoning ship and taking sides in the impending Liberal leadership crisis, you know the wheels have come off the campaign.

As for the Skinny Dippers, I think their platform actually lends a bit of credibility to the party and Layton's wild spending promises during the writ, and in general.

At this point, if Stephen Harper could just lock every single Conservative staffer and candidate up until after election day, I do believe they'd walk away with a majority by watching idly as the Dippers and Libs publicly destroy each other.

At this stage I'd say the Greens are on the verge of implosion. Elizabeth May has been talking about strategic voting and other such things to "block Harper". It's not right to allow a party leader into the national debates who's clearly stated goal is not in fact to get elected, but to simply block the election of one particular candidate. Greens and all Canadians see that this is anti-democratic.

Whatever view you take on things, these are interesting times for Canadians.
