State Senator Sues God; God Responds
One of last weeks weirder stories was Nebraska State Senator Ernie Chambers lawsuit against God.
Its a stupid waste of time, no doubt, even for a politician. But the real surprise is that God responded to the lawsuit.
Since famed O.J. Simpson super-lawyer Johnny Cochran has passed on, it would come as no surprise to see him defend the Almighty. But it begs the question, do good lawyers go to heaven?
Angered by another lawsuit he considers frivolous, Chambers says he's trying to make the point that anybody can file a lawsuit against anybody.
Chambers says in his lawsuit God has made terroristic threats against the senator and his constituents, inspired fear and caused widespread death, destruction and terrorization of millions upon millions of the Earth's inhabitants.
The Omaha senator, who skips morning prayers during the legislative session and often criticizes Christians, also says God has caused fearsome floods, horrendous hurricanes and terrifying tornadoes.
He's seeking a permanent injunction against the Almighty.

One of two court filings from "God" came Wednesday under otherworldly circumstances, according to John Friend, clerk of the Douglas County District Court in Omaha.
"This one miraculously appeared on the counter. It just all of a sudden was here -- poof!" Friend said. [...]
His [God] response argues that the defendant is immune from some earthly laws and the court lacks jurisdiction.
It adds that blaming God for human oppression and suffering misses an important point.
"I created man and woman with free will and next to the promise of immortal life, free will is my greatest gift to you," according to the response, as read by Friend.
There was no contact information on the filing, although St. Michael the Archangel is listed as a witness, Friend said.

It's like the old joke: God and the Devil had a fence separating heaven and hell, and they wrote up a contract stipulating that upkeep of the fence was to be done on a rotating basis, with God to go first.
The next time the fence began to show signs of wear and tear, God reminded the Devil of the agreement and asked if Lucifer could fix the fence. The Devil refused.
God was angered, and told him that he had a written contract from the Devil, and that if action was not taken he would launch a lawsuit.
"Oh yeah," said Satan. "And just where are you going to find a lawyer?"
