No Gas Day

Today is the annual day when uneducated fools decide not to fill up their gas tanks for 24 hours, trying to send some kind of a message to Big Oil. Unfortunately, gas usage over this week will not see any change. As with most leftist causes, it has plenty of emtion, but lacks any substance.

The theory goes that if nobody buys gas on May 15th, oil companies are going to suffer significant losses. The problem is that the drop in demand today will be offset by a spike in demand yesterday, by those who were well prepared; and tomorrow when everybody else rushes to the gas station. The same amount of gas is used, it's just on different days.

Another reason not to "gas out", is that those who are hurt the most aren't the big gas companies, but the people who run independant gas stations. My buddy used to operate a gas station, and on slow days only he suffered.

So fill up your car guilt free today, cause it ain't gonna change anything.

People were rushing to the pumps today as the price rose to 119.9 and then 124.9

It's all pretty stupid if you ask me. If you really want to hurt oil companies, stop driving.

Duh. The funny thing about the people that perpatrate these urban legends is that they don't have cars, jobs, or lives to speak of.
