Anita Neville Demands Another Apology
Anita Neville is demanding an apology (again). The last time she got so cranky was when somebody pointed out that Winnipeg has a crime problem.
This week Neville's got a beef with Indian Affairs Minister Jim Prentice.
What Neville doesn't understand, is that some things should not receive government funding, ie. road blocks that damage the economy and property. Do taxpayers pay millions of dollars for highways, just to spend millions more on shutting them down in protest? Hell no! It makes life more difficult for many communities.
It's about time these terror tactics stopped because it's getting out of hand.
The standoff in Caledonia has cost Ontario taxpayers over $46 million to date. Dalton McGuinty's pathetic performance on this file is now costing the federal government over $26 million.
Worse than the cost incurred to taxpayers is the message this sends to the citizens of Canada; Justice will not prevail, welfare payments will. When our federal MPs start defending criminal actions, you know there is a problem.
Anita Neville should be turfed in the next election. When problems arise, she sticks her head in the sand. When confronted, she feigns incredible insult and demands apologies. When will she actually stand up for Winnipegers?
This week Neville's got a beef with Indian Affairs Minister Jim Prentice.
Prentice said that he hopes $50.8 million in taxpayer grants and contributions to the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs isn't used "in planning illegal and disruptive blockades."
"I am prepared to order forensic audits of every organization that participates in blockades and civil disobedience to ensure that monies intended for children were not used to plan these activities," he wrote.
Neville accused Prentice of making threats to "quash the democratic voices" of aboriginals who wish to show their disapproval with the Tory budget.

- March 2, 2007 - A blockade in Northern Manitoba comes down.
- March 6, 2007 - Railway blockade comes down near Marysville, ON.
- March 13, 2007 - A blockade in Quebec comes down.
- March 23, 2007 - Mohawk protesters blockade a road near Deseronto, ON.
- The occupation in Caledonia has been going on for over a year.

Having worked on many native reserves in Manitoba I can speak from experience, which many people who talk about the subject can not. ANY monies given to Indian Affairs is a complete WASTE.
I have built schools/houses/stores on reserves only to see them burned down. Holes cut in bathroom walls so that their horses can drink water out of the bathtub, I could go on... They send people to work on these reserves because the people on the reserves WON'T WORK. They don't even know what a hammer looks like. But yet, if you go on a reserve, you notice that they all have brand new trucks/quads/sleds. We paid for those things. That's where the money goes. Not into education, not into setting up clinics. Hearing gunshots at any given hour of the morning is not uncommon. Having drunk natives banging on your door demanding a ride across the reserve to see their girlfriend also not uncommon.
Reserves resemble slums in 3rd world countries. I see groups of kids playing in muddy, garbage filled ditches followed closely behind by a pack of stray dogs. They should be in school... but they turned the gymnasium into a bingo hall.
They are a people that have no desire to help themselves and don't even know why they want money. They just know that if we miss one payment, they will raise hell.
$20 for a 4ltr jug of milk is a bit crazy though...

Unfortunately what you describe is the end-game of any socialist structure. It's not their fault that they don't work, they don't have to. In fact, if they did go to work, most would probably be worse off than they are collecting gov't checks. Nobody in their right mind turns down free money, and any solid businessman will tell you the same thing.
The biggest problem in this country is the good old fashion White-Man-Guilt. It's an old story that you'll read in every history book in this country; white-man come to Canada, white-man ravage native population, white-man destroy culture of red-man.
The only fact of that story thats been left out in Canada for about 100 years, is that the natives have never really tried to get along with us friendly white folk. To this day, everything we do must be scrutinized through red-tinted-lenses.
They want to live in our world, up to our standards of living but aren't willing to pay the necessary price.
But it's not their fault, because everything has always been given to them.... they don't know any other way.
