I Thought Ontario Hated Gas
You can't have your cake, and eat it too (h/t).
So, when the oil-sands are shut down because of thebitching and moaning political pressure coming from Ontario, are these bastards going to pay market prices for their gas-powered electricity? Doubtful. More likely is we'll start to hear about another National Energy Program.
And for a province who's number one concern is the environment, can't they do any better than gas? Why not go nuclear? If Ontario is all about "alternative energy", why can't they come up with any alternatives? Because the economic price would be too high, of course. Those who think that the price would be too high for Ontario should keep in mind the damage that would be done to Alberta by over-regulating the oil-sands.
Buried in the release of Ontario Power Generation's 2006 financial results last Friday was an intriguing paragraph:
"OPG is exploring the potential development of a gas-fuelled electricity generation station at its Lakeview site and is continuing with the decommissioning and demolition of the Lakeview coal-fired generating station."
So, when the oil-sands are shut down because of the

What's overregulated about the oil sands?! It's the most subsidized industry in the country! They're planning the largest natural gas pipeline in the world, the largest private expenditure in HISTORY: the mackenzie valley oil pipeline, in order to bolster tarsand production. Alberta's premier's saying that they've grown too quickly for infrastructure to catch up. What's overregulated about that? What's overregulated about ft Mcmurray being so flush with cash that prostitution is a massive, booming industry just to support the desires of the rig pigs?
The fact that infrastructure can't keep up is nobodies fault but the governments. Anything that the government can't do, they could easily hand off to the private sector.
And I know you're not trying to link the worlds oldest profession, prostitution. Whore's aren't stupid, they go where the easy money is. If they weren't working the "rig-pigs", they'd be working truck-stops, and so would the "rig-pigs". It should also be noted that these prostitutes could easily become "rig-pigs" themselves, if they really wanted to. It's not like oil-work is legislated to be boys only.

Your ignoring the original argument you made that I contested: the oilsands are not overregulated. That's such a farce. Again, most subsidised industry in the country, which I remind you makes no sense considering the profits these companies reap.
And aside, okay, maybe government should build infrastructure as quickly as they're pumping out the sands. Then, in about 10-20 years when there is no oil left, we will have so many wonderful roads, schools, hospitals, (and brothels!) and no industry to support it. Because we didn't think twice, we weren't prudent, we were greedy wasteful polluters.
