Annan Regrets Iraq

Kofi Annan reflects on his career at the UN:
At his final news conference before leaving the office of Secretary-General of the United Nations, a post he held for 10 years, he said his greatest regrets were not preventing the Iraq war and losing colleagues and friends in the bombing of the UN compound in Baghdad.

A few things to keep in mind: Kofi Annan was in office during the Rwanda Genocide, where between 800,000 and 1,100,000 people were killed in a 100 day span.

Or that the "conflict" in Darfur has killed 400,000 already, with 2,500,000 refugees. And, what's Kofi done? Talked a lot of smoke, thats what.

In fact, the only war that Kofi Annan has been against in the last ten years, is Iraq. The same Iraq that was headed by Saddam Hussein, who killed 100,000 of his own Kurdish subjects. The same Iraq which was embroiled in the Oil-For-Food Programme, which may or may not have padded his families pockets. So it's no wonder Kofi would be so quick to defend a genocidal maniac.

I don't think Kofi regrets preventing the Iraq War for any humanitarian reasons. I think he regrets preventing it because it disrupted his Oil-For-Food racket.

Again, just a few things to keep in mind while Kofi sheds crocodile tears.
