Very Bad Things

Joe Volpe's leadership campaign reminds me of one of my favorite movies: Very Bad Things. It's a great dark comedy. If you've never seen it, you should.

In Very Bad Things, Jon Favreau's character is hell-bent on marrying Laura, played by Cameron Diaz. It begins with the accidental murder of a prostitute at a Las Vegas bachelor party, followed by a string of deaths.

Likewise goes Joe Volpe's leadership campaign. From the man who brought you the kiddie-donor scandal, and followed that up with recruiting the dead - we have received word that his fundraiers are paid with tax-dollars. He brought in "clients" of the government-funded Career Foundation to work the phones for him. Only money was a little tight at the time, so he arranged for the Career Foundation to pay them, and send him an invoice. The catch is, that as The Star points out, Volpe's leadership campaign hasn't even been able to pay their rent.

Ann Evans, the whistleblower who's killing Volpe's chances, said "Volpe has to know this was wrong. He was the Minister of Service Canada. He knows non-profits can't get involved in politics like this. He can hardly plead ignorance". And thats the point. He doesn't care about the rules, and in Liberal politics money has no real value. It's just a number.
Comments:
Whereas in Conservative politics, happy puppies frolic in the sunshine. I can't read your blog anymore.

where have I heard that before? hmmmm.

a political view isn't so much about what you view, as much as it is about what you choose not to see.
everyone's got a scandal, why not look past that and let's just get someone into office who can bring results. I don't care if he cons senior citizens in elaborate phone scams to boost the federal budget, just get shit done ok?

Seriously, RP. If you're going to stop reading this pile of crap just because you don't like what I say, that's fine. But it does say a lot about how open you are to opposing ideas.
