The Truth Comes Out

For years when the topic of womens-rights, gay-rights, native-rights, workers-rights, etc. came up; the opperative concept in arguing for said rights was equality. "Equal pay", "equal opportunity", along with similar concepts such as "moral relativism", and "cultural relevance".

Many people never saw the equality in said policies. And I'm happy to report my friends, that the truth has finally come out. It all started with the NDP's brilliantly double-racist move of banning smoking indoors everywhere in Manitoba, except native reserves.

What makes it double-racist is that not only did it allow smoking indoors on native reserves, and not for Whitey; but it also indicated that the NDP clearly has a higher health-standard for Whitey than those living on reserves. As you can see, not a whole lot of equality there.

Last summer, some poor-bastard white bar-owner was fined under the smoking ban. He fought the charges, saying they violated the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. He won, with the judge correctly deciding that the law wasn't applied equally.

Rather than adjusting the smoking ban to be legal, The Doer government has a better idea:
The Manitoba government is trying to appeal the decision by arguing, in part, that the charter guarantee was not designed to provide a level playing field for white males.

Racist and sexist! This NDP government really knows how to offend two birds with one stone! Heather Leonoff, director of constitutional law in Manitoba's Justice Department clairifies the position, saying "Not make everybody treated the same, not level the playing field necessarily, but to have an opportunity to address certain historically disadvantaged groups." So if you don't come from a "historically disadvantaged group", you should probably prepare yourself.

This concept of selectively-applicable laws also appeared last summer with the Pasternak twins case, which is also being appealed. In that case, the judge explicitly said her ruling applied only to girls wanting to play for boys teams, and not for boys wanting to play on girls teams.

And so, the NDP have shown their true colors. Even equality laws shouldn't apply equally with the current NDP crew. Maybe thats what Spirited Energy is.
