Fun With Polls
An interesting poll was released today, indicated that Canadians and American's are growing friendlier towards each other.
These polls always have interesting (at least, interesting to me) little tidbits of information. For example, most American's consider the UK to be their closest ally, while 58% of Canadians consider the American's to be our closest ally. I guess it goes to show how much respect we have for the Crown. Maybe if she was represented by a half-competent Governor General, maybe we'd be giving the Queen Mother her due credit.
Remember "Star Wars"? The controvertial program that was shelved, as the media would have you believe, "because a majority of Canadians opposed participation and numerous events of the last year have borne out that it was the correct decision."
Not quite so, says our poll. 52% of Canadians support such a program. Imagine what that number could climb to, if our governments position was in favour of it? It may be another issue for Harper to add to his future campaign platform.
American's even support OUR troops more than we do! Warmongers!
Could this be the first step in the long road to a time where Canadians don't view their moral compass through anti-american lenses? The poll also hints at the answer to that question, and Canada's eternal pecimism:
Another poll of note, is Western Standard's Western-Separation poll. It provides good news for Stephen Harper, because he's brought the country closer together - but bad news for Western Separatists.

On Afghanistan, the poll found that 65 per cent of Americans agree that Canada's role in the war-torn country is vital to the region's future, compared to 48 per cent of Canadians who agree.

Mr. Wright said Canadians are more skeptical when asked about whether the two countries' shared friendship will help them overcome future difficulties. Eighty-five per cent of Americans agree there is a reservoir of goodwill that can overcome difficulties, while fewer Canadians -- about 67 per cent -- agree.
