The City of Winnipeg Stole My Car
Well, here's to one hell of a Monday morning. I awoke this morning to find my car, and most of the others on my street, towed. No damn warning, no damn reason. Just towed.
So, feeling somewhat bewildered and somewhat outraged, I called the impound. I didn't know my license plate number. So, I call Manitoba Public Insurance, and get my license plate number. I call back to the impound, and give them my license plate number. The lady tells me, very kindly I might add, that they don't have my car. Turns out the city of Winnipeg is doing street cleaning in my 'hood, so she gives me the number for public works.
So, I then call Public Works. I tell the lady "I've been told you might know where my car is." She then proceeds to grill ME like a car thief, and finally puts me on hold. After five minutes on hold, I'm promptly told that my car had been moved a mere 5 blocks away, and was given the address. "Goodbye". No "sorry for the inconvenience", or even a friendly "have a good day", just "goodbye". This after the City stole my car, and ditched it 5 blocks away.
Is it so much to ask that they maybe give a 24-hour warning?! Now I have to vote for Kaj.... maybe not.
On a slightly related note...
This house is in River Heights. The home-owner did it himself, and it's been there for at least two months now. By the state of his yard, he appears to be a wee bit off his rocker. Yet even the moon-battiest of Jenny Gerbasi's constituents have some issues with her. I give you exhibit 'A':
