Twenty Six...

... is the number of shots it took Corey Pavin to get around the Front Nine at the U.S. Bank Championship in Milwakee yesterday. The par on that nine was only 34, so he was eight-under par (Tour record is nine-under par for nine-holes!), thats a pretty amazing nine. You can view his scorecard here.

Corey Pavin is like a super-hero to me. In a day and age when golf is dominated by big guys, with big drivers, who hit the ball even bigger - Pavin stands out from the crowd. Pavin stands a mere 5'9" at 155lbs - and amazingly his average driving distance is only 268 yards; good for second last on the PGA Tour. I know that seems long, but on Tour 264 is a swinging-bunt.

Pavin makes up for his pathetic lack of power with an unholy iron game, and his ability to make good shots under pressure is astounding. He's obviously good, he's won the U.S. Open, along with thirteen other victories on the PGA Tour (another twelve internationally).

Good job Corey, thanks for giving us little-guys hope!
