Golf Season Begins Today
Today unofficially marks the first day of golf season. It's the first day of The Masters tournament. Also, here in Manitoba, Kingswood Golf & Country Club in LaSalle has become the first golf course in the province to open for the season. Get the clubs out of the garage, dust them off.... and don't forget to bring your wallet.
The PGA Tour season begins in January, but it only gets really interesting now. The Masters is the first of four majors for the year. And in my humble opinion, it's by far the best of the lot. Tiger is, as usual, the favorite to win. His father is ill, and we'll have to see if it proves to be a distraction, or motivation. You never can tell with that guy.
On the local front, these crazy golf courses hurry hurry hurry to open in spring. It's quite rediculous. There is still snow on the ground. Kingswood isn't the only one either. The City of Winnipeg plans on opening three of its five courses this weekend, while Cottonwood Golf Course in St. Anne is also planning on being open for the weekend. And people wonder why these golf courses are in terrible shape come July? All for a couple extra bucks... tisk tisk.
Anyway, in honor of Masters week, I've put up a poll on the rightside of the page. Take it, trust it, love it.
