Google Continues Drive for Unlimited Storage

Wow. Back in February I mentioned about how Google was planning on building their own internet. And I commented on how they already owned the internet. Well, they're off to a pretty good start. "unlimited" storage and ban? What do these guys have up their collective sleeve?

From a leaked Google Power Point presentation:

Theme 2: Store 100% of User Data
With infinite storage, we can house all user files, including: emails, web history, pictures, bookmarks, etc and make it accessible from anywhere (any device, any platform, etc). We already have efforts in this direction in terms of GDrive, GDS, Lighthouse, but all of them face bandwidth and storage constraints today. For example: Firefox team is working on server side stored state but they want to store only URLs rather than complete web pages for storage reasons. This theme will help us make the client less important (thin client, thick server model) which suits our strength vis-a-vis Microsoft and is also of great value to the user.

100% of user data. I wonder how they get implicated when people eventually start using Google to store and share pirated data. Especially in regards to their court case against the US government, regarding what information they have to give the government.

I wouldn't let them download my hard drive until that court case was completed, thats for damn sure.

It's a smart strategy. The more they know about your interests, the more they can charge for advertising.
But I agree, the privacy factor will be their biggest barrier. It's one thing if a guy hacks my GMail account, but if he also gains access to everything I've ever saved on my computer, I'd rather lug a USB key around.

Also, please address the controversy surrounding your boyfriend, Barry The Bitch Bonds.
