And the Crying Begins!
The implossion of Paul Martin continues. He's spinning out of control at this point.
Its pathetic that the leader of the our country doesn't understand the basic principles of democracy. People don't vote for the party, they vote for the platform. The fact that the NDP is gaining in the polls - while the Liberals are fading - should tell Martin that people like the platform of the NDP, better than the platform of the Liberals. This means that, if anything, Layton is for once standing up for NDP party values.
Paul Martin is campagning as if he's trying to shore up his base. The fact that he has ANY support at all, is proof enough that his base is intact. It's the swing voters that are running away from him.
It's also quite possible that his arrogance had him massively over-estimate how big his base really is.
Those poor Liberal MP's are having a tough enough time. But with Martin letting loose all over the country, the fights probably only going to get tougher.
"Jack Layton has been making some very strange comments during this campaign. He's attacked Liberals, not Conservatives. In fact, he's all but ignored Stephen Harper."
Martin said Layton would rather risk a Harper victory "than be faithful to his own party's principles."

Even popular, long-standing MPs such as Defence Minister Bill Graham are fighting desperately to hold onto their seats, braving the bitter cold to pound the pavement and shore up support with voters.
"My gut feeling with a week to go is it's going to be a hell of a fight," Graham told CTV.
